Daddy, starring Arjun Rampal, was set to be released on 21 July, but will now hit the theatres in 8 September.
The change was made on the request Geeta Gawli, the daughter of gangster Arun Gawli on whom the film is based. Geeta had requested the producers to shift the release date of the biographical film so that her father, who is serving a life term in a murder case, could watch the film if he is out on parole in September.
“I am excited about the movie and I feel that it’ll be special to have it release when my daddy is out on parole. I am really hoping that he gets parole in September, as I want the world to know the real daddy,” Geeta told Bombay Times newspaper.
Rampal, who plays the titular role and is also producing the fllm, retweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
