The news of Priyanka Chopra producing a comedy series with ABC, reportedly on the life of Madhuri Dixit, has got the internet buzzing. While it is a huge step for the actress in her career as producer, the series also opens up new opportunites for actors of Indian origin in the US. From Kunal Nayyar to Kal Penn, actors are lining up to give Chopra their headshots on Twitter.
While Chopra's series revolves around the life of an actress, it mattered little to actor Kunal Nayyar, who tweeted her for an audition chance. The actor, who made his name as Raj Koothrappali on the long-running comedy series 'The Big Bang Theory', wrote 'In case you need a beautiful heroine @priyankachopra I'm available!'

Chopra, ever game, replied 'Haha. I'll keep it in mind'.

Nayyar was not the only one. Not to lose the opportunity, All India Bakchod co-founder Tanmay Bhat replied 'Get in line Nayyar'. This left The Namesake actor Kal Penn vying for third spot on the list.

The Quantico actress was certainly delighted with the competition for the spot. She even suggested the bizarre auditions were possible, saying 'Boys don't fight.. this is an equal opportunity project! @thetanmay @kunalnayyar'

The comedy series will see Chopra and Madhuri Dixit take on executive producer responsibilities. While no information has emerged of the cast as of yet, the series is one of the first shows on ABC to have a team of Indian producers, working on a singularly India-centric show. The show is reportedly based on Dixit's life in suburban USA after her wedding to Dr Sriram Nene in 1999.
Naturally, the fans of both actresses have been excited about the project. Soon, the conversation on Twitter escalated with fans suggesting actors like Kumail Nanjiani and Aziz Ansari for the role.

Chopra and Madhuri Dixit will be executive producers on the show, which is being written by Sri Rao. Rao, who last wrote the screenplay Baar Baar Dekho (2016), announced the project's official status on Saturday, 29 July.
