Bareilly Ki Barfi song: 'Nazm Nazm' is a sweet nostalgia trip into romance of letters

While Bareilly Ki Barfi's first song, 'Sweety Tera Drama', was a totally over the top chartbuster, the makers of the film have followed it up with a lovely mellow track. The song, 'Nazm Nazm', was released on Sunday, 30 July, and features the unspoken love between Ayushmann Khurrana's Chirag Dubey and Kriti Sanon's Bitti.

The story revolves around Sanon's character waiting for letters from her favourite author, actually written by Ayushmann's character. The song is basically a meet-cute that shows how Chirag falls for the irrepressible and charming Bitti. The shots of the two writing and sharing letters, is a nice change from the digitalised communications which usually drives new age romance.

Sung, composed, and written by Arko, 'Nazm Nazm' has a touch of the 1990's with its lingering metaphors of ghazals and letters. Arko does a good job of letting his voice ring out above the minimalistic composition, with the slow rhythm of the guitars backing the whole symphony. The simplicity of the song plays well to the theme of romance. Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon's chemistry and playfulness is another factor that makes the song worth a watch.

Bareilly Ki Barfi also stars Rajkummar Rao. The film is set to be released in theatres on 18 August.
