Sridevi: CBFC passing Mom without any cuts is a matter of joy

Actress Sridevi is happy that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has passed her upcoming film Mom without any cuts and passed it with a U/A certificate. 

When it was pointed out to her during an interview for the movie, she said, “This is a matter of joy. What else can I say? I am really grateful to the censor board. We had kept one thing in mind that it’s a family film. I want the children and parents to see this movie. Boney (Kapoor) ji and director Ravi (Udyawar) ji had also thought that this would be better,” she said. 

The CBFC and its chief Pahlaj Nihalani have been in the news ever since the committee was revamped. Nihalani made a lot of heads turn last week when he asked for one lakh votes to pass the word ‘intercourse’ in Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal, which stars Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma. 

Sridevi also pointed out a moment in the film which highlights the importance of teenagers and parents watching the film together. 

“There is a dialogue in the movie saying, ‘Use samjhane ki nahin, humein use samajhne ki zaroorat hai (Rather than making them understand, we should understand them).’ This is a very important dialogue for teenagers. I am sure they are going to love this dialogue. It is true that instead of preaching, we should understand them,” she added. 

Also starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna, Mom is all set to be released on 7 July.
