The first look of Akshay Kumar's character in Reema Kagti's upcoming, Gold, was released on Sunday. Kumar plays the role of hockey player, Balbir Singh, in Kagti's film about the first hockey team from independent India to win a gold medal at the Olympics.

The actor tweeted a monochrome picture of himself on set. He wrote, "Set out on a brand new journey, aiming for nothing less than #GOLD! Day 1 of Gold, need your love and best wishes as always."

Dressed in a tweed suit with a pencil moustache, the actor looks every bit a gentleman from the 1950s.

The film is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment, and will also see television actress Mouni Roy make her debut on the big screen.

The film will also see Kunal Kapoor and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles.

Gold is Reema Kagti's third film after Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd (2007) and Talaash (2012). It is also the first time that the director is working with Akshay.

Currently, Akshay is busy promoting his upcoming film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, and also has Padman to arrive later this year.
