Salman Khan was reportedly co-producing the film along with Karan Johar, with Akshay Kumar playing the lead role.

While two films are already being made on the historic Battle of Saragarhi, there just might be a third film focusing on the event. At the press interaction for Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, actor Akshay Kumar revealed that talks are on to convince Salman Khan to resume production of his film on the battle.
At the event, Akshay Kumar said, "The film is very much on. As for Salman Khan co-producing it, well, we are working on it."
The statement is quite surprising considering reports last week about Khan dropping out of the venture. There were also suggestions that the project had been shelved.
However, Akshay Kumar's statement ensures that the reunion of Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar is still on. The two stars acted together in the film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004).
There are two films already being made on the 1897 battle between heavily outnumbered Sikh soldiers of the British Indian army and Orakzai tribesmen of the North West Frontier Province. Rajkumar Santoshi has already cast Randeep Hooda in the lead for his film, Battle Of Saragarhi, while Ajay Devgn is producing Sons Of Sardaar: The Battle Of Saragarhi. Devgn's film is reportedly being directed by SS Rajamouli.
Speaking of the clash, Akshay Kumar said, "Yes, it is kind of a clash. But everyone has the right to make any film. We are making our story, and I'm sure they are making theirs."
The actor also revealed that the script for Neeraj Pandey's Crack is yet 'to be cracked'.
Akshay Kumar will be seen next in Shree Narayan Singh's Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which will be released on 11 August.
