Aamir Khan might be on a holiday, but the social activist in him, is not. The actor, who till last week was vacationing with his family in Rome, sent out an emotional tweet today asking his fans to contribute for the flood victims in the states of Gujarat and Assam.

In a video, the actor pointed out that the floods have left many people in the regions helpless. "Lots of lives have been lost, and there are financial losses too," the actor said.

Looking to contribute to the cause, Khan said, "While we are helpless before nature, we are not prevented from helping our brothers and sisters in these regions." The actor went on to request his fans to contribute to the Chief Ministers' Relief Funds in both states.

The actor ended the video by saying, "I am also going to contribute. Please support me. Jai Hind!"

The regions of Gujarat and Assam have been affected by floods after unprecedented rainfalls this year. The floods have already taken close to 123 lives in Gujarat, while Assam has lost 79 lives. Even the state of Rajasthan has seen more than 25 lives being lost to the floods.

This is not the first cause Aamir Khan has devoted himself to either. The actor was previously involved, infamously, with the Narmada Bachao Andolan to save the river Narmada. In his television show, Satyameva Jayate, Khan would often pick up several social causes, helping the victims along the way.

Currently, the actor is preparing for the shoot of Vijay Krishna Acharya's Thugs of Hindostan, where he will be seen alongside Amitabh Bachchan, and Fatima Sana Sheikh.
