Anurag Basu has been under fire first from critics and then Rishi Kapoor tore into the Jagga Jasoos director holding him responsible for the film's failure. Jagga Jasoos had Rishi’s son Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. Ever since Kapoor slammed Basu, one has been waiting for the director’s reaction. Basu has finally spoken but only to downplay Rishi’s comments.
“I want to avoid making any comments against a senior who also happens to be my friend’s dad,” Basu told Deccan Chronicle.
The same report quoted a member from the cast as saying, “We knew it was coming. Rishi Kapoor had been ranting against Anurag to anyone who was remotely connected with Jagga Jasoos. He had even threatened to beat up Anurag if he ever showed his face to him. He thinks today Anurag is an ‘irresponsible director’. I am sure he would have seemed like a responsible director had Jagga Jasoos been a hit.”
Jagga Jasoos was co-produced by Ranibr Kapoor, Anurag Basu and Disney India. Made at a budget of over Rs100 crore. The the film has thus far got just Rs.48.75 crore nett, as reported by BoxofficeIndia.com.
