Ever since its first glimpse was released, the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has captured the attention of the actor's fans. The first song of the film released today captures the actor playing the smooth, seductive casanova for a change.
Composed by Gaurav Dagaonkar and sung by Armaan Malik, 'Barfaani' is a beautiful, seductive ghazal that stands true to the sultry picturization of the song. As Siddiqui goes about playing the glib, shameless Romeo, the song simmers with passion and lust. The simplicity of the composition and Malik's smooth vocals raise the quality of the song.
While he plays a ruthless killer-for-hire in the film, Siddiqui's turn as the casanova is just as brilliant. With his raw intensity and Bidita Bag's sensuality, the song is backed up by some sensuous visuals. Despite that, it is the entire composition that steals the scene with its slowly building intensity. Ghalib Asad Bhopali's lyrics are embellished with beautiful imagery that contrasts the melting of ice with the passion hotting up on screen.
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is directed by Kushan Nandy and also stars Jatin Goswami and Divya Dutta, among others. The film is set to be released on 25 August. You can watch the sultry number below and predict the film's box-office performance here.
