Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos has slumped badly in the second weekend at the box office by earning only Rs5.75 crore, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. Hence, the Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif-starrer has turned out to be a big loser at the ticket window.
The fate of the film was sealed after the first weekend itself as it made only Rs31.75 crore. Thereafter, it had a major drop on its first Monday as it earned Rs3.75 crore. Jagga Jasoos then crawled to a number of Rs43.12 crore approximately in the first week. The grand total of the film currently stands at Rs48.77 crore approximately.
Box office: Munna Michael has poor run, Lipstick Under My Burkha holds well
The high budget, coupled with mixed reviews seem to be among the reasons that Jagga Jasoos has performed poorly at the ticket window. The film, which got delayed a number of times, is reportedly made at over Rs100 crore.
Disturbed by the fate of the film, Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir’s father, has also slammed Basu for delaying the project, which added to the cost of production. The film is Basu and Ranbir’s first co-production.
Needless to say, Jagga Jasoos now stands little chance of recovering its enormous cost of production. It has become yet another major loss of 2017 after Rangoon, Sarkar 3, Raabta and Tubelight.
