Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, has been adapted into a musical play in Japan. The premiere of the show happened yesterday (23 July) in presence of the filmmaker, who was all smiles at the occasion as this is the first Indian movie to get an international musical adaptation.
Performed by the group Takarazuka Revue, the title is changed to Oomu Shanti Oomu – Koisuru Rinne. The interesting bit is that it’s an all female group. This means that the role of Shah Rukh was played by a female.
Farah shared a picture from inside the performance hall. She said, “1st Bollywood film ever to get its own international musical adaptation!! #oso opening night! Picture abhi baaki hain..” Shah Rukh replied with a funny tweet saying, “Arre yaar. Let’s do it in part 2 now. Last nite kids telling me how much they love OSO.”
