Akshay Kumar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has been in the news ever since it was announced. This was because of its unusual title, tagline and the subject it addresses – lack of sanitation in large parts of the country even today.
But not much is known about its debutant director Shree Narayan Singh. In the short behind-the-scenes video of the film, which just released, we finally get to see the director. Akshay introduces him and asks him to say something about the film.
However, Singh brushed aside the actor’s request in a polite and shy manner. It seems he is one of those filmmakers who prefer to keep a low profile and make their work do the talking. But Akshay did mention that Singh was the editor of his three successful films, Special 26 (2013), Baby (2015) and Rustom (2016).
Rustom was produced by Neeraj Pandey while the other two were also directed by him. Singh has also been the editor of Pandey’s directorials A Wednesday (2008), and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016) and his productions, Taryanche Bait (2011), Total Siyapaa (2014) and Saat Uchakkey (2016).
Coming back to the making video, Akshay is seen pulling the leg of his co-star Divyendu Sharma. As the young actor belongs to the place, Mathura, where they were shooting, Akshay jokingly said, “We have hired a local actor.”
In the same video, Akshay makes fun of the film’s co-producer Arjun N Kapoor since he found the subject of the film beautiful. “When he read the script he found it to be beautiful although the name of the film is Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.” He also added, “I would like to see the toilet at his place considering he found the topic beautiful.”
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha will be released on 11 August.
