Tiger Shroff starrer Munna Michael hasn’t performed well at the box office on the first day. The Sabbir Khan directed film earned Rs6.50-6.75 crore approximately yesterday, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The film, which also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nidhi Agerwal, is released in 3400 screens across India. So, the numbers are low for such a wide release. Plus, the film is made at a high budget of reportedly Rs45 crore. With this number on the opening day coupled by not-so-positive reviews and word-of-mouth, it has a tough ride ahead to become a safe bet for the producers.
Munna Michael’s first day numbers are much lower than last week’s Jagga Jasoos, which made Rs8.21 crore approximately on the day. Also, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer was released only in 1750 screens.
Alankrita Shrivastava’s Lipstick Under My Burkha, which also released yesterday, has earned little under Rs1 crore. Although the number doesn’t look encouraging, its low cost of production of Rs10 crore (adjusted) and the very positive word-of-mouth and reviews have ensured that it’s a decent number. In fact, in some multiplexes in the metros, its numbers were the same as Munna Michael.
Christopher Nolan’s much awaited Dunkirk also hit the theatres yesterday. The film has earned a decent Rs3.50 crore and is expected to do well in the remaining weekend as the response has been phenomenal in the metros. The thing to be noted is that Dunkirk isn’t dubbed in any other language in India.
