It has been 17 years since the release of Alaipayuthey (2000) in which Mani Ratnam launched R Madhavan, but the actor-director duo are set to reunite one more time in an upcoming film. Reports quote a source close to the director saying that Ratnam is in 'talks' with Madhavan to collaborate once again.
Speaking to IANS news agency, the source said, "Mani sir is in talks with a few actors and this includes Madhavan. But he hasn't signed anyone yet and the process will take a few more weeks."
The source added that the film will not be a romantic film, and will feature two male protagonists. The source said, "He is exploring a different genre and it won't be another romantic flick this time. Also, the film might feature two male protagonists."
Madhavan is currently awaiting the release of Vikram Vedha, where he shares centre stage with Vijay Sethupathi, on 21 July.
The actor was launched by Mani Ratnam in the film Alaipayuthey (2000), and went on to work with the director in 3 more films — Kannathil Muththamittal (2002), Aayutha Ezhuthu (2004),and Guru (2007).
It is not the only reunion fans will witness with the project. Cinematographer Santosh Sivan is another member of the old Ratnam team set to join the project. The cinematographer had last collaborated with the director in the 2010 film, Raavan.
