Meri Pyaari Bindu was launched amidst much fanfare but failed to get going at the box office, evoking mixed reviews. Ayushmann Khurrana was, however, praised for his performance as the protagonist Abhimanyu Roy.

"I received mixed reactions at a personal level, like from my family and friends. Some people loved the film and some did not like it at all," Khurrana told the media at the trailer screening of Bareilly Ki Barfi today (19 July).

While the film had its flaws, the trouble for Meri Pyari Bindu was that it was released two weeks after Baahubali 2. While the SS Rajamouli film was expected to do well at the box office, little did anyone imagine that it would shatter (all languages) box office records. The Hindi version alone managed to set a record Rs500-crore plus nett.

Khurrana, too, felt that his film suffered because of Baahubali 2's dream run. “I think somehow Baahubali 2: The Conclusion ate up the business of the film. May be, it would have earned more money had Baahubali 2: The Conclusion not been in theatres at that time," he said.

Khurrana will next be seen in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Bareilly Ki Barfi.
