Director Sameer Patil’s upcoming Marathi movie Shentimental has an interesting cast of Ashok Saraf and Upendra Limaye. Both of them are playing cops. It is a treat to see them teaming up in a comedy, whose trailer has been eleased.
Patil made his directorial debut with Poshter Boys (2014), which went on to become a success at the box office. The film was a whacky comedy with an ensemble cast. Shentimental is on similar lines, although the subject is quite different. The humour quotient is high in the trailer and one would hope for the same in the movie. The angle of the Mumbai police going to Bihar to solve a case is also fresh.
The most surprising bit is a funny mention of one of the seniormost film critics, Dilip Thakur. The same thing was tried in the Hindi film Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011), where a character was named after the film critic, Minty Tejpal.
The last time that Saraf played a senior police constable was in Rohit Shetty’s Hindi blockbuster, Singham (2011). But his role in this film appears different due to the light-hearted mood of the film.
Shentimental is all set to be released on 28 July.
