Industry sources suggest, actor-director Lakshmi Ramakrishnan has signed actress Aishwarya Rajesh and actor Ashok Selvan to play the leads in her fourth film, House Owner. She has previously directed Aarohanam (2012), Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathey (2014), and Ammani (2016).
"House Owner will be a feel-good family drama. Initially, she [Lakshmi] wanted to direct a movie on the Chennai floods. But then, her daughter got engaged and she decided to do the movie after the wedding. While in Mumbai recently, she happened to watch a Hindi movie which impressed her very much. She approached the makers to buy the remake rights. However, that didn't happen. Nevertheless, the inspiration from the film left her writing another fresh script," a source informed.
Reportedly, the film will be based on the challenges faced by a young couple when they decide to buy their dream home. Though the subject sounds serious, the film is said to have a comic undertone to its plot.
The sources also hint that cinematographer Jomon T John has shown interest in the project and is likely to be a part of the film. "The unit will start shooting, once everything else is finalized," the source added.
Aishwarya Rajesh will be next seen in Ashim Ahluwalia's upcoming film Daddy, and Gautham Menon's spy thriller, Dhruva Natchathiram, later this year. Ashok Selvan, on the other hand, has Kootathil Oruthan and Nenjamellam Kadhal ready to be released in 2017.
