Shraddha Kapoor apologizes for cancellation of DDLJ screening at Maratha Mandir

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge has been screening at Maratha Mandir for the past 22 years. Today's (18 July) show was cancelled to accomodate the trailer launch of Haseena Parkar.

Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ,1995) has been running at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir ever since it was released 22 years ago. After its initial run, the Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer has been screening for the matinee show, everyday at the theatre.

In all these years, there has hardly been an occasion when the show didn’t happen. Today, was one such day. This was because the trailer launch of Shraddha Kapoor’s, Apoorva Lakhia directed, Haseena Parkar was scheduled at the venue. The makers chose Maratha Mandir for the launch as it goes with the theme of 'old Bombay' and also because the real Haseena Parkar lived close by in Dongri.

The cancellation of DDLJ screening didn't go down well with fans as was evident from various remarks on social media. When this was pointed out to Kapoor, she apologized to the fans. “I am not aware of this actually. Is anybody upset? If anybody is upset I would want to say ‘sorry’ because we would not want to make anyone upset about anything,” she said.

Contrary to what has been reported in the media, this is not the first time that DDLJ’s screening was cancelled at Maratha Mandir. The show was cancelled once in last December when the venue was booked for a political event.
