Jagga Jasoos has got mixed reviews and hasn’t had a great opening at the box office. The Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif-starrer could only collect Rs8.50 crore nett on its opening day, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Made at a budget of over of over Rs100 crore, Jagga Jasoos has released across 1,800 screens in India. The opening day collection of Jagga Jasoos is similar to Barfi! (2012) which had bagged Rs8.18 crore nett. However, the latter was made at a budget of Rs40 crore. Jagga Jasoos is Kapoor’s maiden production.
What is worrisome is that the opening day figure of Jagga Jasoos falls behind Roy (2015) that bagged Rs9.39 crore nett. The actor only had a guest appearance in that film. Kapoor’s last release Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had bagged a decent Rs13.04 crore nett on its opening day, considering it was competing with Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay.
Kapoor will hope for better returns over the weekend, if the film is to succeed at the box office.
Hollywood release War for the Planet of the Apes had a poor opening of Rs2 crore nett. The Hollywood film has released across 1,000 screens in India.
Meanwhile, last Friday’s (7 July) release Mom could only manage aroud Rs.1 crore nett on its second Friday. The film has so far bagged Rs24.5 crore nett. Despite getting mostly positive reviews, Mom hasn’t quite set the box office afire. The Sridevi-starrer film is said to be made at an approximate budget of Rs35 crore.
