Mahesh Limaye’s Yellow (2014) tackled the portrayal of special children in a delightfully heartwarming way. Now, actor Prasad Oak’s directorial debut Kaccha Limbu seems to be on similar lines, at least going by its teaser released today.
The Marathi film marks the acting debut of well-known filmmaker Ravi Jadhav. It also stars Sonali Kulkarni, Sachin Khedekar and Anant Mahadevan. Young Manmeet Pem plays the role of a mentally challenged son.
The teaser indicates that Kaccha Limbu has two songs. The first is about Kulkarni and her boss, played by Khedekar. He gifts her a cake on her birthday with a topping of two birds. But her son destroys the cake, eating it wildly. This incident marks the second track. It would be interesting to know how the situation of a special child is dealt with.
The teaser, which is less than 90 seconds long, gives a glimpse into the techinically sound shooting of the film. The scenes inside Kulkarni’s house are shown in black and white. This is probably symboliaing her black and white personal life.
Kaccha Limbu is set to be released on 11 August. Akshay Kumar’s Hindi movie, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha will also be released on the same day.
