Salman Khan ponders reimbursing Tubelight distributors

In a rare occurrence, Eid didn’t bring great cheer to Salman Khan as his film Tubelight failed to shine at the box office. Sold to distributors at approximately Rs135 crore, Tubelight barely managed to cross Rs114 crore nett in its India collections thus far. The loss for the distributors has been huge prompting talk in trade that Khan should perhaps compensate the distributors for the losses. It looks like that the silent plea of the distributors has reached the ears of Khan, who is now said to be pondering over reimbursing the distributors

Trade analysts Komal Nahta tweeted about it earlier this eve.

While Nahta revealed this information there was no word on the amount of loss that Khan is willing to reimburse.  

A reliable source from trade industry though didn’t sound too optimistic yet

‘It's good thing if Salman Khan has decided to reimburse the distributors. However, it will not happen overnight. From what I’ve heard, Khan has appointed one Aditya Chowksi, son of former distributor JP Chowski, (a close friend of Salim Khan) to speak to the exhibitors and evaluate the exact losses incurred by the film, This will not happen overnight, It will few weeks for Chowksi to prepare his report. Till then, one must speculate on how much losses will Khan cover. It will not be easy though,” said a source from trade.

 Tubelight was produced by Salman Khan Films with NH Studioz distributing the film.  The film has released across 4400 screens in India.
