Lapachhapi trailer: The Pooja Sawant starrer promises to be a smart horror flick

The Vishal Furia-directed Marathi film seems to have the necessary elements needed for horror.

The first teaser of Lapachhapi, which was released last month, promised the film to be a spine-chilling horror thriller. Whether or not the film will succeed in doing that will be known only when it releases on 14 July.

But for the time being, the film’s full trailer does raise your expectations from the film, which is directed by Vishal Furia.

Lapachhapi tells the story of Neha (Pooja Sawant), who arrives with her husband (Vikram Gaikwad) to stay at a remote place in Maharashtra and is greeted by an old lady (Usha Naik). Her relation with the main characters isn’t revealed. She tells the story of a crow who has laid eggs. One day, a snake attacks the crow and its eggs.

While she is narrating the tale, we are shown visuals of another pregnant woman. She was also once present at the same spot and she is forced to attack herself by an unknown entity. Slowly, some mysterious and supernatural incidents start happening with Neha.

The trailer has all the elements needed to trigger a chill down your spine. Although such effects and antics are seen in a lot of horror movies of the past, it is refreshing that they haven’t resorted to forceful methods to scare the audience. This is where current mainstream Hindi horror films go wrong. An innocent children's song which is used to induce horror is also praiseworthy.

Meanwhile, the parallel story of another woman gives a feeling of reincarnation.
