Sridevi's revenge drama Mom has bagged Rs14.25 crore nett in its opening weekend, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Mom bagged Rs6.25 crore nett on Sunday (9 July), taking its three-day total to Rs14.25 crore. Mom had a low opening of Rs3 crore nett on Friday before improving to Rs5 crore nett on Saturday.
The film was made at a budget of Rs42 crore and has been released across more than 1,350 screens in India. The makers will hope that the strong word-of-mouth will help to register better box-office figures over the week. The film may see a change in numbers with Ranbir Kapoor’s Jagga Jasoos hitting the theatres on 14 July.
While Mom bagged Rs14.25 crore nett, Paresh Rawal’s Guest Iin London was a washout, bagging just Rs5 crore nett in its opening weekend.
Hollywood release Spider-Man: Homecoming cast a web around the Hindi releases, bagging an impressive Rs30.25 crore in four days. The film's paid previews on Thursday (6 July) fetched Rs2 crore. The film has been released on more than 1,400 screens in India in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, apart from English.
Spider-Man: Homecoming bagged Rs6.75 crore nett on Friday, with the weekend figures amounting to Rs10 crore nett and Rs11.50 crore nett, respectively. The Marvel film got the second highest opening weekend collection for a Hollywood release in 2017 after Fast & Furious 8 that bagged Rs47 crore nett.
