Jagga Jasoos has taken four years to make and producer Ranbir Kapoor even thought of scrapping it. Only a few weeks before the film’s release, actor and first-time producer Ranbir Kapoor disclosed how director Anurag Basu, Katrina Kaif and he had contemplated on scrapping the film, as reported by tabloid Mid-day.

“We [Ranbir, Anurag and Katrina] would often discuss the progress of the film. Often, we would wonder if we should shelve it. But then, in the end, I'd go back to the time I first heard the story, when it made me feel amazing. And that took us through the journey. When I saw the film, I realised that it turned out exactly like my director had envisioned it, like he had narrated it four years ago. It felt really good,” Kapoor told Mid-day.

The film has taken 150 days to shoot, and what didn’t help its cause is the rift between former lovers Kapoor and Kaif. Kapoor and Kaif called off their relationship while shooting the film. There were rumours that Kaif wouldn't promote the film.

Apart from the long delay, there were rumours that Kaif had refused to shoot a promotional video with Kapoor. However, setting aside her personal differences, Kaif has been more than active in promoting the film together with Kapoor and her director. Kapoor did admit that all the negative publicity around the film did affect him.

“There are some films which take time to make. I have shot for Jagga Jasoos for 150 days. But, in the past, I have shot for other films for as long. This film only took longer to come together. We had to battle the negative reports surrounding the film. I would be lying if I said that it didn't bother me. In the end, we decided to concentrate on the positives and move ahead," added Kapoor.

Jagga Jasoos is set to be released on 14 July.
