The first trailer of Raees succeeded in increasing our anticipation for the film. The 'Laila' song, which features Sunny Leone, also did the same as there was ‘gangster drama’ written all over it, just like the trailer. But its song ‘Zaalima,’ which has been just released, brings to fore a different aspect of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer.
The song is a typical romantic number featuring King Khan and Mahira. In masala entertainers, such songs are also used as ‘relief’ or to justify the presence of the actress. Also, the trend of the hero and heroine romancing in the desert is an old one.
For Shah Rukh fans, this is a chance of watching him in the good ol' romantic avatar after a long time. This is the first time that Mahira has received prominence in the promotional material of Raees. She has a good screen presence and her chemistry with Shah Rukh looks impressive.
The song is more pleasing to the ears. Amitabh Bhattacharya has maintained a good mixture of rich and simple words like he has done in the past. Arijit Singh, as expected, gives a soulful rendition. He is ably supported by Harshdeep Kaur.
Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Raees is all set to be released on 25 January.
