Akshay Kumar came down heavily on the molesters in the Bangalore mass molestation case which took place on New Year's Eve. He posted a video on social media, expressing his disgust at the molestation incidents.
After the incident, Samajwadi Party president of the Maharashtra state branch, Abu Azmi had drawn flak for sexist comments he had made on the molestation incidents. He had said, "In these modern times, the more skin women show, the more they are considered fashionable. If my sister or daughter stays out beyond sunset celebrating December 31 with a man who isn't their husband or brother, that's not right."
Without naming Azmi, Kumar slammed him and the offenders who were captured on CCTV while misbehaving with women.

"My blood boiled watching the shameful incident in Bangalore. I’m a father to a daughter, but even if I weren’t, then I’d still say that a society which can’t respect its women, is not worthy of being a civil society. More disappointing is how some people have the audacity to justify such shameful acts. Why a woman wore short clothes? Why a girl stepped out in the night? You should be ashamed of yourselves for having shallow thinking. God forbid, such incident should never happen to your daughter/sister,” Kumar said in his video.
The Rustom actor also reminded all how such offenders live and breathe among us.
"Such offenders don’t come from any planet, they live and breathe among us. There’s still time for you all to redeem yourselves. I’d also urge all the girls to not consider themselves any little from men. You can become capable of defending yourself. There are small techniques in martial arts which help you tackle such situation, be alert and learn self defence,” added Kumar.
