Shah Rukh Khan is not only one of the most popular actors in India, but also has a huge following in the rest of the world. In fact, in some foreign countries, people associate India with him. So, it is natural that he would be talked about on a worldwide platform like Twitter.
The actor has emerged as the most talked about Indian celebrity on the social media platform. The ratings are prepared by the number of times a particular Twitter handle is mentioned. Khan has secured 36% share of the conversations on Twitter, making him the top male celebrity. Not surprisingly, he is followed by Salman Khan, who has had 18% share of the conversations.
The two Khans are followed by Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan. Dhawan overtaking the two other stars comes as a surprise. Other well-known names like Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan, Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra also made it to the list.
As far as actresses are concerned, it is no big surprise that Priyanka Chopra, who has had a fantastic year and created a wider following in 2016, leads the list with a 23% share of Twitter mentions. She is followed by the latest gen-next star Alia Bhatt with 18%. The list is completed by other popular female stars like Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor, Kajol, Sunny Leone, etc.
Coming to the films, Salman’s blockbuster Sultan was the most talked about on Twitter in 2016. The film has 25% of the conversation share. It is followed by Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with with 15% share. Films like Udta Punjab and Dear Zindagi also made it to the list. It looks like ADHM and Udta Punjab were also helped by the long controversies the films got embroiled in.
Other films that featured in the list include Dangal, Airlift, Fan, Rustom and Befikre. The rating is done on basis of actors' account handle mentions.
