Mainstream Hindi cinema has kicked off the new year with a bang. Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar took to their respective Twitter accounts late last evening to announce one of the biggest collaborations.
The three biggies have joined hands for an upcoming project. It will be produced jointly by Johar, under his banner Dharma Productions and Khan, under Salman Khan films, while Kumar will play the lead in it. They shared the information along with a picture of the three of them. This is the first collaboration between Kumar and Johar. The filmmaker has worked with Khan in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). The two of them had joined hands for Shuddhi, but the film got shelved.
The film will be directed by Anurag Singh. He has two Hindi films to his credit — Raqeeb (2007) and Dil Bole Hadippa (2009), a Yash Raj project with Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukerji. Unfortunately, both films didn’t work at the box-office. Following this, he has been making Punjabi films and has been tasting success ever since.
The title of the film and the rest of the details are currently under wraps. It is slated to release in 2018.
The said film adds to the long list of upcoming Kumar films — Jolly LLB 2 (2017), Toilet - Ek Prem Katha (2017), 2.0 (2017), Crack (2017), Padman (2017) and Gold (2018).
