The original 'angry young man' Amitabh Bachchan was full of praise for the Republic Day week releases — Raees and Kaabil.
Bachchan was particularly impressed with Shah Rukh Khan’s performance in Raees, which perhaps was reminiscent of his hey days.
T 2515 - Congratulations Shahrukh .. RAEES .. loved your anger in it !! pic.twitter.com/cfRr24jz0n

Though brief, Bachchan summed up Khan's performance in a few words, appreciating the angry look in and as Raees.
There was no individual praise for Hrithik Roshan, but Bachchan was generous in his praise for director Sanjay Gupta’s Kaabil.
T 2515 - 'KAABIL' most convincing film .. endearing, superior performances, and dexterously handled by Sanjay Gupta, director ! Congrats !! pic.twitter.com/wGxAnxxu2T

The Pink (2016) actor felt humbled that his name was referred to in both films.
I am not believing this .. but am extremely humbled, to see my reference in name and film, in both the recent releases - RAEES and KAABIL https://t.co/0YDzGzKNJh

It must be noted that Bachchan hasn't contributed to these films in any way, but Khan's anger and the 70s swag is reminiscent of Bachchan at the peak of his career as a young man. Also, one character in Raees is shown to be watching a Bachchan film, Kala Pathar (1979). Meanwhile, in Kaabil, Roshan's character speaks in Bachchan's voice while talking to Yami Gautam.
