Director Sanjay Gupta’s Kaabil didn’t perform well on its opening day (25 January). It earned only Rs8 crore. Its clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees had much to do with it. But the film stood its ground and took a big jump on the second day (Republic Day) due to the positive reviews and word-of-mouth.
Kaabil review: Hrithik Roshan's performance is highlight of this revenge drama
This seemed to have worked for the Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam-starrer. The film took a huge jump on the second day by almost doubling up on what it scored on the first day. It made Rs15.50 crore, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
It’s a approximately 90% jump for the revenge drama. The jump was 80-100% in all circuits in the nation. But as the collections were low on day one, it had potential to go higher on the second day. Kaabil is also dubbed in Tamil and Telugu. It hasn’t performed well in these two versions as it has collected only Rs50-60 lakh.
Kaabil is reportedly made at an approximate budget of Rs60 crore. It’s overall total right now is Rs23.50 crore. So, it still has a long way to go before surpassing its cost of production. It all depends on how the film performs today, which is a working day. If it doesn’t drop much today, it will help its cause immensely.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, which released alongside, has garnered impressive collections in the first two days. The film has so far made Rs46.50 crore.
