After delivering the highly-acclaimed Haider (2014), which starred Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu and Kay Kay Menon, Vishal Bhardwaj’s next, Rangoon, is keenly awaited. The film was earlier supposed to release in October 2015, but got postponed due to few reasons, including lead actor Shahid's injury.
It now seems ready for release this year. The first poster of Rangoon is out and it has war written all over it.
Starring Saif Ali Khan, Kangana Ranaut and Shahid in lead roles, the film is a love triangle against the backdrop of the second World War of 1945. The poster, however, focuses only on the war aspect. It shows a group of soldiers valiantly fighting the enemy. The presence of an old church also adds to the period effect.
The poster, however, contains none of the three actors. Maybe the makers wanted the audience to get a feel of the subject. Interestingly, this doesn’t act as a disappointment as the poster still looks interesting and increases your anticipation for the film.
Rangoon is Khan's first film after Phantom (2015). This is the second time he has teamed up with Bhardwaj. The first was Omkara (2006). Langda Tyagi, his character in the film, is still fresh in audience’s minds and it remains his best act till date.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Rangoon is all set to release on 24 February 2017.
