Raveena teams up with Slumdog Millionaire actor Madhur Mittal for titular comeback

The year 2003 saw Raveena Tandon doing two films where she played the central character — Madhur Bhandarkar’s Satta: The Game Of Power and Gaurav Pandey’s Stumped. Now, after 14 years, she is back with a titular role in a film titled, The Mother, which will be released on 21 April. The first look of the film is just out. 

Directed by Ashtar Sayed, it is a crime thriller dealing with violence against women, including rape. An official statement from the makers said that the film talks about the road to justice for women who are victims of violence and rape. 

In the same statement, Tandon has revealed that her reason for doing the film was that it doesn’t endorse going against the law to solve such crimes. 

“I found the script very gratifying, as it showed how one can deal with criminals indulging in crime against women while remaining on the right side of the law. As a society we need to change our laws to protect women,” she said. 

The film stars Madhur Mittal, who is known for his character, Salim Malik in the Oscar-winning, Slumdog Millionaire (2008). He plays the antagonist in The Mother. 

Sayed made his feature film debut with Bijuka (2012). Incidentally, that film too dealt with the issue of sexual abuse.
