Pakistani actor Fawad Khan was unable to promote his film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, last year due to tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of the Uri attack in Jammu & Kashmir in September. The film’s release was in jeopardy after the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), a small right-wing party based in Maharashtra, objected to its release since it featured a Pakistani actor.

Khan had already left for Pakistan much before the Uri attacks took place. The actor has now spoken out in detail for the first time since tensions between both countries escalated. In an interview to a Pakistani daily, Khan said he was still in touch with his friends from the Hindi film industry.

"I’m still in touch with a lot of my friends there," he said. "Nothing has really changed. Obviously, I’m not a man of steel in that people’s words don’t affect me. They might hurt me. But I am becoming immune to it as time goes by. I have no expectations from them, and that’s what I think has developed this camaraderie.”

Khan also maintained that even if he is never seen again in Indian films, it would not reduce his affection for friends from the industry. "Even if I don’t work with them again, I’ll still always have love and regard for them, and I assume that’s how they feel as well. That’s why we are still in touch," he said. "We even make plans to meet, to catch up.”
