Will there ever be a third film in the Munnba Bhai franchise? It's a question that's been on everyone's mind for years. The third film was kept on hold after lead actor Sanjay Dutt was sentenced to jail in the illegal possession of arms case. However, from the time he got out of jail in February 2016, fans and the media have been curious to know when Dutt will shoot for the third instalment of the hit Munna Bhai franchise.
The wait will now be over as the process for Munna Bhai 3 has begun with the director Rajkumar Hirani having finalised the script.
Arshad Warsi, who plays Circuit, Munna Bhai's partner in crime, confirmed the development at a media interaction recently. Warsi, who was out to promote his next film Irada, was asked about the status of Munnbhai 3, and the actor confirmed that the wheels had been set in motion for Munna Bhai 3.
Warsi was quoted as saying in a portal (inuth.com report) saying, “Rajkumar Hirani spoke to me. He gave an idea about the story and it is just superb. The story is very much relevant in today’s time. The script is ready,”
“You will soon see the same innocent idiots coming up with a social issue once again. They will make you see the world we want to see. The film will be very sweet and lovely. Sense of humour is the best thing in the world. We’ve got a lot of issues in life so I feel we should smile more often,” he added.
Hirani is said to begin work on Munna Bhai 3 once he wraps the shoot of the Sanjay Dutt biopic. Buzz is that Dutt wants the third Munna Bhai film to be better than the last installment, Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006).
Hirani made his debut with Munna Bhai M.B.B.S (2003) and followed it up with the sequel Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Before Dutt went to jail, Hirani was contemplating on making Munna Bhai Chale America, but that concept was then scrapped.
