The producers of Jolly LLB 2, Fox Star India, had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Bombay high court order to cut four scenes in the film. However, they have now withdrawn the plea and are going ahead with the four cuts ordered, as per a tweet by news agency Press Trust of India (PTI).
Yesterday (6 February), the Bombay high court ordered four cuts in Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 after an advocate filed a petition accusing the film of insulting the legal profession. The decision was taken after a three-member committee reviewed the film and found few portions objectionable.
The four cuts include — ‘objectionable’ signalling and dialogues inside a court, judge hiding under his table, a scene where a shoe is hurled and a dialogue during an argument.
Last week, the producers had approached the Supreme Court after the Bombay high court found prima facie that the film appears to mock the legal profession. However, the SC had ordered them to first face the HC and then approach them if need be.
Although the producers have been unhappy with the whole affair, Kumar has accepted the decision without any issues. Talking to PTI, he said, “I respect high court’s decision. They must have made the decision keeping everything in mind. It’s the high court, you have to abide by their rules and I always believe in abiding by the rules and we have made the changes. There is no argument about it. There will be four cuts in one scene and that whole thing has been done.”
Jolly LLB 2 will be releasing on Friday, 10 February.
