The trend of making a sequel many years after the first film released has now begun in mainstream Hindi cinema. The first film had Salman Khan in a double role, while the sequel will see Varun Dhawan play the roles of Prem and Raja.

Judwaa 2 will also be the first sequel where the lead pair of the first film, Salman and Karisma Kapoor, will make a guest appearance. The news was revealed by producer Sajid Nadiadwala during the press conference of Judwaa 2. Incidentally, Judwaa had released this day (7 February) in 1997.
“The best thing is that they (Salman and Karisma) have volunteered to be a part of it. But they won’t be having a sketched out role. They will come in as a special appearance when and where they are available,” he said. Varun is hoping that he would get a chance to share the screen with the Sultan actor. “I hope so. I have never shared screen space with Salman bhai.”
The Student Of The Year actor went on to reveal an interesting incident with Salman. A day before the start of the shoot of Judwaa 2, Salman sent a carton full of jeans to Varun for Raja’s character. “He said, I think all these jeans will go with your character. I am trying to use his jeans in the film.”
Varun also went nostalgic recalling the time when he met Salman for the first time when the was just seven years old. “I went for the trial (of Judwaa) and Salman bhai was standing outside. He was wearing shorts and banian. I called him ‘Salman uncle.’ He got very upset. He said, ‘I will slap you. Call me bhai. If you call me uncle, I won’t allow you inside the theatre. I don’t care if it’s your dad’s film.”
David Dhawan also revealed that the sequel will feature two songs from the first film — ‘Chalti Hai Kya Nau Se Gyarah’ and ‘Oonchi Hai Building.’
