The music composer will collaborate with the Canadian company, Ideal Entertainment to put forth three films, Le Musk, 99 Songs and One Heart – The AR Rahman Concert Film.
AR Rahman turns director with VR short, Le Musk

After music and screenwriting, music maestro AR Rahman is turning his attention to the newest fad in filmmaking, virtual reality, with the announcement of his directorial debut for a short film, Le Musk. Rahman was in Toronto, Canada last week to announce his partnership with Ideal Entertainment to produce three films, including Le Musk.
The virtual reality short will have an added element of smell, hence the title. Rahman revealed that his wife, who is into perfumes, helped him incorporate the olfactory aspect to the film.

Rahman has also written the screenplay for the Hindi-Tamil bilingual, 99 Songs, directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy. He felt compelled to write the story after seeing mostly negative portrayals of musicians, turning to drugs and alcohol in films. He told Canadian newspaper, The Toronto Star, “It’s always miserable endings. I thought, why not show the real world, where people have money and respect, and it can be a clean, desirable profession?”
Toronto mayor John Tory, who was also present at the press event, said of Rahman, “His endeavors span among local and international artistry music, dance and theatre and his iconic work reinforces the need to celebrate the art and the entertainment scene in Toronto.” Tory suggested that Rahman should choose the city as his ‘third home’. Rahman already has a street, Allah-Rakha Rahman Street, named after him in Markham, Ontario, Canada in 2013.
