In the first extended week period of nine days, Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil managed to earn only Rs67 crore approximately in India. On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees finished way ahead with Rs111.75 crore, although it didn’t grow well after having a good extended first weekend.
Kaabil review: Hrithik Roshan's performance is highlight of this revenge drama
Normally, a film that has been in theatres for nine days isn’t expected to do much after that. But Kaabil has managed to show decent growth in the second weekend. The film amassed Rs4 crore and Rs5.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, taking its second weekend collection to Rs11.75 crore, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Raees review: Typical underworld entertainer with high dose of Shah Rukh Khan
Surprisingly, the second weekend collections of Raees are a bit lower than Kaabil. The film earned Rs4 crore on Saturday, which is exactly what Kaabil made on the day. But on Sunday, the Khan-starrer could make only Rs4.75 crore. This is the first time that Kaabil has earned more than Raees in a day. The good word-of-mouth seems to be helping the Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam-starrer.
However, it won’t have any effect on the overall total as the Rahul Dholakia-directed film still continues to be way ahead with Rs121.55 crore earned till now. Kaabil, which is directed by Sanjay Gupta, currently stands at Rs77.50 crore. Both films are expected to earn similar numbers in the second weekday period starting today.
