Tennis star Sania Mirza and director-choreographer Farah Khan proved to be a laugh riot on the latest episode of Koffee with Karan season 5 that aired this Sunday.
The chat show saw a completely different side of Mirza, although just as sporty, fending off questions about the length of her skirt, her non-affair with any film boys or the secret chinks in her armour. The former world no. 1 doubles tennis player enjoyed playing off the questions. Farah Khan pitched in with her own brand of humour, pulling the host's leg at every opportunity she got. It is certainly surprising to hear that the director and the tennis star have been friends for 9 years, and continue to hang out with each other when in town. No wonder, Karan Johar got some serious 'FOMO' (Fear of Missing Out) hearing the two talk.
Though Mirza was freaking out at all the sex talk on Johar's show, she certainly played along revealing a lot more than she was trying to hide. Here are the best parts of the show.
1. Settling down
With two career women on the show, the talk of 'settling down' had to come up. Talking about having children, Mirza admitted she does want to 'settle down' but has no immediate plans for it. Farah Khan would have none of it and pipped up 'only mud settles down,' which proved to be the quote of the show. A year ago, Mirza had been put on the spot by television channels on the issue of 'settling down' which she found offensive. No wonder, her best friend stood up for her!
2. The non-publicised friendship
Though their friendship is quite the story within the industry, it has remained under the covers for those outside. As Khan said, "We are not convenience ke liye friends. We have not publicised our friendship." The director let in on how Mirza was approached for a talk show hosted by Farah Khan, only to reject it. Later, the two joined up and have remained friends since. Going by how Mirza stood up for Johar's taunts on Khan's home decor, and how Khan took up the battle for Mirza's skirts, the friendship is certainly strong.
3. Johar - The cutlery critic
Another funny moment was when Farah Khan pulled off a Sania Mirza. Answering questions in her friend's style, Khan let in the viewers and Johar on some secrets. "Mahesh, always Mahesh," said Khan when asked to choose between Leander Paes and Mahesh. Another secret was Mirza's huge crush on Salman Khan.
Looks like Johar had his hands full when it came to these two. The next episode has another couple that started their career under Johar's tutelage, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Both make their second appearance this season to promote Johar's production Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The sneek peak of the episode is quite fun, thanks to Dhawan putting his best foot forward.
