Koffee with Karan: 6 things Farah Khan and Sania Mirza proved with their BFF stint

On this weekend's episode of Koffee with Karan, the unique team of Sania Mirza and Farah Khan proved to be a laugh riot on Karan Johar's couch.

Tennis star Sania Mirza and director-choreographer Farah Khan proved to be a laugh riot on the latest episode of Koffee with Karan season 5 that aired this Sunday.

The chat show saw a completely different side of Mirza, although just as sporty, fending off questions about the length of her skirt, her non-affair with any film boys or the secret chinks in her armour. The former world no. 1 doubles tennis player enjoyed playing off the questions. Farah Khan pitched in with her own brand of humour, pulling the host's leg at every opportunity she got. It is certainly surprising to hear that the director and the tennis star have been friends for 9 years, and continue to hang out with each other when in town. No wonder, Karan Johar got some serious 'FOMO' (Fear of Missing Out) hearing the two talk.

Though Mirza was freaking out at all the sex talk on Johar's show, she certainly played along revealing a lot more than she was trying to hide. Here are the best parts of the show.

1. Settling down

With two career women on the show, the talk of 'settling down' had to come up. Talking about having children, Mirza admitted she does want to 'settle down' but has no immediate plans for it. Farah Khan would have none of it and pipped up 'only mud settles down,' which proved to be the quote of the show. A year ago, Mirza had been put on the spot by television channels on the issue of 'settling down' which she found offensive. No wonder, her best friend stood up for her!

2. The non-publicised friendship

Though their friendship is quite the story within the industry, it has remained under the covers for those outside. As Khan said, "We are not convenience ke liye friends. We have not publicised our friendship." The director let in on how Mirza was approached for a talk show hosted by Farah Khan, only to reject it. Later, the two joined up and have remained friends since. Going by how Mirza stood up for Johar's taunts on Khan's home decor, and how Khan took up the battle for Mirza's skirts, the friendship is certainly strong.

3. Johar - The cutlery critic

Asked why Khan never invites him to her parties anymore, Johar received quite the fitting reply. "He criticises my guests to their face. Once when they were gone, he went and started criticising my crockery and cutlery," said Khan, much to Mirza's laughter. While everyone knows Johar to be the fashion critic, the cutlery criticism is taking things a bit too far.

3. The sex life obsession

Knowing Karan Johar, this question was bound to come up. While Mirza continued to look flustered around such questions, it was Farah Khan who stepped up brilliantly. "My sex life is exactly twice as that of yours Karan," she quipped, shutting up Johar for once.

4. Why Sania Mirza never got hitched with a Bollywood actor

Though she is quite the charming lady, Mirza remains sedately married. As for why she never got hitched with an actor, she said, "I was always travelling a lot." The best answer though was reserved for the rumour of her relationship with Shahid Kapoor. When she was asked who to hook up with, kill, or marry between Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, Mirza chose to hook up with Ranveer Singh, marry Ranbir Kapoor and kill the Udta Punjab actor. Well, that should end any talk of that!

5. That movie review

Farah Khan was definitely the star of the show, with her comic antics and rapid ripostes. But it was in the rapid fire round that she truly came in form. Asked to present reviews for movies through just her facial expressions, Khan pulled some expressions that audiences of the films named might completely understand. No question why she is one of the top parody directors today.

6. Farah being Sania

Another funny moment was when Farah Khan pulled off a Sania Mirza. Answering questions in her friend's style, Khan let in the viewers and Johar on some secrets. "Mahesh, always Mahesh," said Khan when asked to choose between Leander Paes and Mahesh. Another secret was Mirza's huge crush on Salman Khan.

Looks like Johar had his hands full when it came to these two. The next episode has another couple that started their career under Johar's tutelage, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Both make their second appearance this season to promote Johar's production Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The sneek peak of the episode is quite fun, thanks to Dhawan putting his best foot forward.
