Priyanka Chopra feels Indian film stars get more love than their Hollywood counterparts

Priyanka Chopra’s appearances on American talk shows have become quite a regular event now. Apart from starring in the hit TV series, Quantico, she has appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and many more. Last night, the actress was seen having a chat on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. 

The video of the episode that has gone viral on social media is proof that Priyanka had a ball on the show, just like she did in all of her previous talk show appearances in the US. The actress was looking stunning in a black dress. 

Among various things, Priyanka spoke about the massive stardom and crazy love enjoyed by Indian film stars as compared to their Hollywood counterparts, when Colbert asked  her about not being able to walk down the streets in India. 

 "Indian film stars are really really loved. Indian movies also have a huge diaspora audience around the world. Even in America we have so many fans of Indian movies," she said, and then spoke about how passionate Indian fans are. 

 “I don’t think any actor in the world would – and I might get into trouble saying this – understand the kind of love, affection that we [Indian film stars] see and experience. You’ll see thousands of people just outside your home waiting for you. And around the world... in Canada, New York or London... wherever I am people come out with love, affection and hugs. It's really warm,” she said. 

Priyanka also explained why she doesn’t like the word ‘Bollywood’ being used to describe Indian film industry. “I don’t think a lot of Indian actors like the word ‘Bollywood’ also. I think, around the world, the word ‘Bollywood’ is been reduced to like a Zumba class,” she added. 

A lot has been said about Priyanka’s accent already, and the subject got touched upon once again when Colbert praised the "elegant" way in which she said the word 'dance'. “People think my accent is so confused and so am I. I am not sure anymore of what it is. It’s a global accent,” she said. She also enacted the New York accent that she took with her to India when she returned to country after studying in the US for four years.
