Vishal Bhardwaj's quest for perfection has often landed him and his crew in tough spots. For Rangoon, the director has shot in the unexplored locations of Arunachal Pradesh to capture the wild, desolate areas in which his characters are lost. As the latest making video of Rangoon's Arunachal schedule reveals, it was not an easy job.
As the cast and crew shudder under blankets, sweaters and mufflers, Kangana Ranaut reveals, "We were shivering around, huddling in groups like sheep. Now, the sun has broken out." Her co-star Shahid Kapoor retorts, "This is by far the toughest schedule I have been on."
The film has been shot in virgin locations of Pasighat, Rottung, Kibang. The crew had to trek through arduous jungles. As for how Bhardwaj got the crew to the wonderful shore of the river shown in the trailer, he says, "We had gone looking for the bridge, when we came back it was late evening. Suddenly, I saw a couple of kids playing. I thought if kids can get here, so can." âÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
Ranaut adds,"As you can see it is very difficult to get here. There is no network, there is no civilisation," she adds, before grimly saying, "and no toilets." The sight of the crew travelling around, panting, lugging the equipment is proof of that.
Directed by Bhardwaj, Rangoon is scheduled for release in theatres on 24 February.
