Buzz has it that former Pakistani cricketer captain and commentator Rameez Raja is making a film to show how sports can be used to curb terrorism.
While not much is known about the film's plot, Raja is rumoured to have signed Sanjay Dutt to play the lead. Raja hasn’t zeroed in on his actress yet. The former cricketer and commentator is keen on casting Katrina Kaif or Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who was in Shah Rukh Khan's Raees, in the lead.
"It's a soft film and has action, emotions and of course, cricket. Actresses like Mahira Khan and Katrina Kaif have immense talent. It is my wish to cast them in the movie," Raja told Pakistani channel GEO News.
Cultural ties between India and Pakistan took a hit following the Uri terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir last year. Thereafter, certain political parties threatened to block the release of Indian films which had Pakistani artistes in them. While cultural ties have not been restored completely, the Pakistan government has taken a positive step by lifting the ban on Indian movies in the country. Kaabil became the first Indian film to be released in Pakistan after the ban was lifted.
