Nine years is a long gap for the third film in a franchise to be made. Ram Gopal Varma has finally unveiled the first poster of his gangster drama Sarkar 3, with the film set to be released on 7 April.
While Amitabh Bachchan returns as the protagonist Subhash Nagre, Sarkar 3 has a whole lot of few faces, prominent being Yami Gautam, Manoj Bajpayee, Jackie Shroff and Amit Sadh. Varma tweeted the first poster with the comment that Amitabh Bachchan is back angrier than ever.
While Bachchan certainly has intensity written all over his picture, the one that looks really angry in the poster is, surprisingly, Yami Gautam. She has a menacing, murderous look.
The rest of the faces in the poster – Shroff, Bajpayee, Sadh – are all said to be playing the antagonists in the film. Clubbing Yami Gautam into this poster, that too with such a menacing look, creates suspense around her character Annu Karkare.
Fans have never seen Yami Gautam look this mean before and she clearly stands out in the Sarkar 3 poster.
Jackie Shroff plays a character called Sir while Bajpayee, sipping tea from a saucer, plays Govind Deshpande, a character that Varma had described as being similar to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Amit Sadh plays Shivaji, who is out to avenge his father Vishnu Nagre (Kay Kay Menon), who was shot by his own brother Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) in the first film.
The first Sarkar film was released in 2005, and three years later Varma made Sarkar Raj.
