Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan's performances have not managed to get the audiences going for Rangoon. Vishal Bhardwaj's film managed to earn a meagre Rs4.75-5 crore at the end of its first day at the box office.
While the film has not been pegged among the blockbuster category, it was expected to do better than its current performance. According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, the low collections were a uniform pattern, except in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh where the advantage of a Mahashivratri holiday played a part. Even the collections in Mumbai, which were expected to exceed those of Delhi by at least 40%, have failed to match up.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar's Jolly LLB 2 continues to keep running, albeit slow, at the box office. It managed to earn Rs1.75 crore in its third week, adding to the Rs96.50 overall collections in the last two weeks. This takes the film's box office revenue to Rs98.25 crores overall.
Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon faces a tough weekend, where it will seek to gain an advantage before the expected fall in numbers during the work week.
