It’s not often that an Indian actor receives an invitation from Queen Elizabeth II, and so it is surprising to see Amitabh Bachchan turn down such an invitation.
As per reports, the Queen extended a rare invitation to the actor, who is arguably one of India’s biggest cultural icons, to the United Kingdom-India Cultural Year reception at the royal Palace in London. However, the invite was politely turned down by the star citing “pre-scheduled commitments” as the reason behind giving the gala a miss.
Bachchan's publicist confirmed to us that the actor did receive an invite from the Queen but the actor’s busy schedule didn’t allow him to grace the event.
Along with Aamir Khan, Bachchan is currently shooting for the Vijay Krishna Acharya’s Thugs of Hindostan that will be followed by Aankhen 2. Besides, the actor is expected to begin promotions for Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar 3. Bachchan has also signed Ayan Mukherji’s Dragon, a film with Kabir Khan's production house and one with Sairat (2016) director Nagraj Manjule.
