Trapped trailer: Rajkummar Rao is a caged animal calling for help

The trailer for Vikramaditya Motwane has the actor going to the extreme in his desperation to find a way out of a locked apartment.

The premiere of Trapped at the MAMI Mumbai International Film Festival last year generated quite the buzz, and now audiences are finally getting to know why. The trailer for Vikramaditya Motwane's Trapped is a claustrophobe's nightmare.

The trailer shows the nature and extent of the trap that Rajkummar Rao's Shaurya is caught in. The trailer starts off with the most innocuous incident, Shaurya locking himself inside the house in his hurry to attend a phone call. From there, the trailer takes a more devious turn. Stranded on the topmost floor of the building, with no neighbours around, Shaurya tries everything to find a way out of the cursed apartment.

From banging on the door to setting fire to the windows and throwing out the television, he goes all out to attract attention. Motwane displays a sublime touch of black humour by contrasting the desperate pleas of Shaurya with the comfortable watchman listening to a radio in the basement.

Rao manages to bring the required balance of passion and desperation to the trailer with his performance. The trailer's treatment definitely generates curiosity regarding this fascinating story about a man trapped in a secluded apartment for 25 days. Trapped also marks Motwane's return to direction after his critically acclaimed Lootera (2013).

Trapped is produced by Madhu Mantena, Vikas Bahl and Anurag Kashyap. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on 17 March.
