The first look of R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Tamil action thriller Vikram Vedha was released on Wednesday. The first look poster has a very serious looking Madhavan and Sethupathi facing off.
Directed by husband and wife duo Pushkar-Gayatri, Vikram Vedha has Madhavan playing an encounter specialist, while Sethupathi will play the gangster pursued by the obsessed cop. The film also marks the first collaboration between the two talented actors.
The poster, which has been received very well, features Madhavan and Sethupathi in their thick-bearded avatars. While the two share a very similar look, the juxtaposing of their faces enhances the contrast between their characters. This makes it seem that Madhavan and Vijay represent two sides of the same coin.
The face-off between the two actors is likely to be much talked about. In a recent interview, director Gayatri had stated, "Madhavan plays a role of an encounter specialist and Vijay Sethupathi is a gangster in the film. The storyline is based on Vikramathithan Vethalam, where Maddy is Vikram and Vijay Sethupathi is Veda."
The buzz around the film has only increased in recent times, with Madhavan's look attracting quite some praise from fans. The actor has been praised for getting into a lean shape as the encounter specialist, after having put on weight to play a boxer in Irudhi Suttru (2016).
Vikram Vedha also stars Shraddha Srinath, Kathir, John Vijay and Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar. The film is being produced by YNot Studios.
The trailer of the film is expected to arrive later this week. The makers of Vikram Vedha are aiming for a summer release.
