Varun Dhawan has opened up about the comments actor Govinda made against him. Speaking to a leading tabloid on Govinda's comments on himself, Varun said, "Govinda sir is years senior to me. I hold him in high regard. [But] To each his own. I won't comment if he was wrong. I won't let my true feelings on the issue come out."
The actor and his father David Dhawan were criticised by Govinda in recent interviews. However, Varun continued to maintain a safe distance by choosing no to comment.
Since his debut, Varun has been constantly compared with Govinda for his energy, dancing abilities and attitude. This comparison has not gone down well with the senior actor. In a recent interaction with Cinestaan.com, Govinda said, "How can Varun be a Govinda? He’s the son of a big director. I think he's done about six films so far, out of which he’s done only two with his father. I did around 17 films with David Dhawan." The senior actor had also disparaged long-time associate, director David, for not standing by him in difficult times.
Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan should be compared with Salman, not me: Govinda
Asked to comment on the issue, Varun replied, "This isn't really my place to talk. My father is currently in London, recceing for Judwaa 2 and he should respond to this. Govinda sir is years senior to me. I hold him in high regard." However, the actor maintained that he will remain a fan of Govinda's despite the statements. He said, "It (his comments) doesn't affect the fact that I like his work. I am a fanboy forever."
Varun has two major films lined up, Khaitan's Badrinath Ki Dulhania and father David's remake of the 1997 hit comedy, Judwaa 2.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania is slated for theatrical release on 11 March, while Judwaa 2 is set for a September release.
