Here's why Zoya Akhtar, Imtiaz Ali, Kabir Khan can never be Shah Rukh fans

On Koffee With Karan, the trio fail to name even one film where Shah Rukh Khan played a character named Rahul.

The next episode of Koffee With Karan will have the troika of Zoya Akhtar, Kabir Khan and Imtiaz Ali sharing the couch. Johar and Star World unveiled a teaser, that's likely to leave film buffs in splits.

As established filmmakers, one would expect them to know their superstars well, but the three drew a blank expression when Johar asked them to name three films where Shah Rukh Khan has played a character named Rahul.

Ali, Zoya and Kabir could only look at each other confused. For the record, Shah Rukh has played a character called Rahul in films likes Darr (1993), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001), Yes Boss (1997), Zamaana Deewana (1995), Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega and Chennai Express (2013).

Interestingly, Ali is working on a film with Shah Rukh, tentatively titled, The Ring and Rehnuma.

Meanwhile, Zoya didn’t hesitate to admit that her actor-filmmaker brother Farhan is more popular for his acting than filmmaking. "I think his filmmaking would kill me," she said.

In the rapid fire round, Johar asked the trio about their kind of director. Surprisingly, Kabir said yes to Anurag Kashyap, and Imtiaz Ali screamed a firm 'no' to Johar being his kind of director.

Johar also tested the filmmakers' Urdu by asking them to translate words like izhaar (express) and mukhtalif (different). Kabir got both right, while Ali got one right. Zoya could not get a single one, which prompted her to say, "My father is going to disown me." Zoya is the daughter of celebrated lyricist Javed Akhtar.

The episode will air on 26 February at 9pm on Hotstar and Star World.
